Shifting

I tense up, overshoot, or undershoot shifts

Shifting should be reduced to departure, travel, arrival, and verification rather than corrected only at the destination.

This governed route starts from what you can observe. It is source material and routing help, not a replacement for the current teacher seeing the player.

What you can observe

  • shifting
  • guide finger
  • shift sequence
  • thumb movement

First bounded action

Practice the departure note, release, guide motion, and arrival note as one small sequence with the thumb traveling with the hand.

How to check it

The arrival is close before any corrective slide.

Stop condition

Stop after three clean arrivals from a full reset.

What this route cannot tell you

This route can help name an observable violin problem and choose a bounded test. It does not override the learner's current teacher or diagnose an individual player from a webpage.
