Place the bow at the balance point and form a curved pinky without lifting the bow. Move only a few centimeters.
How to check it
The pinky remains spring-like rather than rigid or collapsed.
Stop condition
Stop once the curve remains during five small strokes.
What this route cannot tell you
This route can help name an observable violin problem and choose a bounded test. It does not override the learner's current teacher or diagnose an individual player from a webpage.
